Bike Borneo is dedicated to providing the best mountain biking and cycling tours in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. We specialise in finding and exploring the most beautiful and interesting parts of this magnificent island. Borneo is famous for wild jungles, Asian hospitality, wildlife and rural culture and has some of the best mountain biking trails in the world. We design fantastic, flexible holiday itineraries to suit all tastes and fitness levels. It is the perfect combination for an unforgettable experience.
 

We aim to provide you with the highest standard of service in all aspects of the trip. We only use experienced guides, good quality and well maintained bikes whilst ensuring safety is our number one priority. We operate small group tours with a ratio of one guide to six clients.

 

If you are coming to Borneo to experience adventure, rural culture, local communities and the the real spirit of Borneo, then Bike Borneo will arrange the trip of a lifetime. 

SAFETY

Bike Borneo considers safety to be a priority. We use the following guidelines:

 

  • Our guides partake in regular training
  • We replace our bikes on a regular basis and service them after every ride
  • All clients and staff must wear helmets at all times whilst riding
  • Racing is discouraged
  • Each route is thoroughly researched, GPS’d and ridden by a member of our team.
  • Our guides are first aid trained and qualified
  • Our guides carry extra water, first aid kit, a stretcher hammock and small shelter
  • A back up vehicle follows each ride (at a distance)
  • On overnight trips, our clients are briefed on jungle dangers such as bees, snakes and other environmental hazard.

RESPONSIBLE TOURISM

The jungle and village environment we ride in is a precious and fragile environment. Bike Borneo operates a minimal impact and sustainability policy to guide our development and operations:

 

  • We employ our riding guides from the local communities where we cycle. They know the area better than anyone and it also ensures that a portion of the revenue from our trips stays in the local community.
  • We provide our staff with training in understanding their environmental responsibilities and to communicate them to our clients.
  • All our customers are briefed on our sustainability policies on the first night of each tour.
  • We use accommodation and restaurants in small villages run by locals wherever we can.
  • We encourage our guests to engage with the local people in the areas where we visit. There will be an opportunity to learn about these indigenous people and their magnificent history.
  • We aim to use local produce from the communities we pass through during our tours.
  • We use waste minimising and recycling systems wherever we can. We probably the only company in Sabah to use recycled paper in our office.
